PERRY COUNTY, Ohio -- Two men were killed and two other people remain in serious condition after a head-on crash on state Route 13 Thursday morning.

Franklin R. Merckle, 24, of New Lexington was traveling southbound on state Route 13 at about 8:05 a.m.
Troopers said Merckle drove his 2003 Kia Sorento left of center and struck a northbound 1997 Chevrolet Van driven by Gary A. Coleman Jr., 29, of Stockport.
Merckle and his passenger, 25-year-old Jeremy A. Penrod also of New Lexington, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Perry County coroner.
Troopers said they were not wearing seat belts.
Coleman and his passenger, 42-year-old Jackie L Genske of New Lexington, sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to OSU Medical Center Main.
Another passenger, 25-year-old Jeremy W. Coleman of Stockport was transported to Licking Memorial Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
Troopers said Coleman's two passengers were not wearing seat belt.
Authorities closed state Route 13 at Stone Quarry Road, just north of Somerset in Hopewell Township, during crash investigation and cleanup.
The roadway reopened at about 11:25 a.m.
The crash remained under investigation.
