HEATH, Ohio -- Officials released the results of an investigation into a fatal trailer fire Friday.
A trailer fire caught fire at 152 Irvingwick Dr. at 5 p.m. on Feb. 11.
The Division of State Fire Marshal said 3-year-old Brenden Fown died as a result of the fire.
Investigators determined the fire started in a bedroom on the east side of the home and said they could not rule out the child playing with a lighter as a possible cause of the fire. Officially, the cause of the fire will remain undetermined.
A neighbor reported the fire, according to the Division of State Fire Marshal.
Smoke detectors were found inside the home. However, investigators noted that none of the detectors were functional.
The Division of State Fire Marshal and Heath Police Department will not file any charges as part of the investigation.
The Division of State Fire Marshal reminded citizens to check their smoke detectors, practice their home fire-escape plan and take a moment to address fire safety within the home.
