MARYSVILLE, Ohio-- Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration arrived in Marysville Saturday to begin the task of determing what caused a privately-owned, single engine plane from crashing in a wooded area, killing the pilot and passenger.
The two had been bound from Indiana to Pennsylvania with a stop scheduled in Union County Friday for refueling. When the pair hadn't shown up on time,
relatives alerted authorities who began a search, and found the plane by honing in on its radio-locater and on the cell phone signal of one of the passenger.
The process of making an official determination takes months, but investigators took note of the fact that there was no fire at the crash scene. That, and the fact that a fuel stop was scheduled, makes one of the theories of the cause of the crash the possibility that the craft simply ran out of fuel.
