Coast Guard: Spring Flooding Possible On The Ohio

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The U.S. Coast Guard says heavy snows in the Northeast this winter could result in Ohio River flooding.

Coast Guard maritime enforcement specialist James Stremple said Tuesday at a news conference in Louisville that while there is no way to predict flooding, the Coast Guard wants to be prepared for the worst.

The Courier-Journal reports that the Coast Guard has disaster assistance response teams on standby for evacuations in the event of flooding.

Coast Guard Commander Andrew Tucci says the Pittsburgh area is the biggest concern along the Ohio River because of the amount of snow that is still on the ground there.
