COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College may have a role in a new automotive racing and research site at the old Columbus Clippers stadium.
One of the proposals is a Jeff Gordon racing complex and the developer has spoken to both colleges about putting an automotive research center at the site.
Columbus State said it's bursting at the seams when it comes to automotive classes and finds the idea interesting.
"Realistically at this point, it's really been kind of preliminary investigation. We've met once with the people from Arshot. The president has sent them an expression of interest into having further discussions, but it's all going to be really dependent on funding -- what funding is available from whom," said Andrew Rezin, of Columbus State.
The developers have also asked Franklin County Commissioners for another year to organize their plans for the site.
There have also been concerns expressed by neighbors about the noise a racetrack would cause.
