LAURELVILLE, Ohio -- A 7-year-old boy who fell into an icy pond in early January has been released from the hospital and is resting at home.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

Alexander James Hanson-Cyrus fell into an icy pond Sunday, Jan. 3.

He apparently was under the ice for about an hour before he was rescued by medics. He was unresponsive during rescue.

The Hocking County sheriff's office said Hanson-Cyrus fell into the man-made pond during a birthday party. The pond is located on Union Road.

Hanson-Cyrus spent more than two months at Nationwide Children's Hospital before he was released Monday of this week.

There will be a public homecoming ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stewart Auto Group of Pataskala at 361 W. Broad St. SW, Pataskala.

The event also will serve as a fund-raiser to help offset the family's medical bills.
