LAKEVIEW, Ohio -- A rollover crash claims a driver's life, but a pet escapes the crash unharmed late Wednesday.

The Marysville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the single-vehicle crash occurred at about 11 p.m. Wednesday on state Route 235, near Logan County Road 52 and Indian Lake State Park.

Benjamin Veness, 32, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet S10 truck on SR 235 when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which ended up overturned on the roadway.

Veness was pronounced dead at the scene.

A dog was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The pet was uninjured and is currently in custody of the Logan County Humane Society.

The circumstances of the crash continue to be investigated. Troopers said alcohol might have been a factor.

No additional information is available at this time.
