COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio bowling centers are arguing they should be allowed to offer video slot machines, too, if the state's horse racing tracks get them.

Bowling alley representatives made their case Wednesday before an Ohio House panel that's considering legislation to pave the way for slots at seven horse tracks.

Joseph Gambish owns a bowling center in the Cleveland suburb of Amherst and told the lawmakers slots would help the alleys survive.

The committee's chairman, Rep. Ron Gerberry, indicated he was agreeable to the idea.

An official with Concerned Women for America of Ohio testified that slots would foster addictive behavior.

An organization called LetOhioVote.org is trying to put an issue on the fall ballot that would let voters have a say on slots.
