CLEVELAND -- Cleveland police say a dispatcher has been charged with sexual assault and suspended from duty without pay.
Police Chief Michael McGrath says 38-year-old dispatcher Charles McGeever was charged Wednesday with one count of rape. Police say McGeever, an 11-year veteran of the department, is accused of sexually assaulting a female on Monday while he was off-duty.
Police spokesman Sgt. Sammy Morris says dispatchers are civilian employees, not officers. He does not know whether McGeever has a lawyer. A telephone listing under his name was disconnected.
McGeever posted $25,000 bond at Cuyahoga County Jail and was released on Wednesday.
