COLUMBUS, Ohio -- One person was killed and another person was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 23 on the city's North Side late Thursday evening.

The crash occurred on U.S. Route 23, or North High Street, between Flint Road and Lazelle Road East shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to Columbus police, 35-year-old Megan Kosmo was traveling northbound on U.S. 23 in the area of Northwoods Blvd. while 29-year-old Lesley Stepter was traveling southbound.
Police said that for reasons unknown, Stepter traveled into the northbound lanes, striking Kosmo's vehicle.
Kosmo was transported to the Ohio State University Medical Center in serious condition.
Stepter was also transported to the Ohio State University Medical Center in life-threatening condition. She was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6:34 a.m.
The roadway was closed to traffic during the crash investigation and cleanup.
NBC 4 originally reported the crash was farther north, near Orange Road. That was incorrect.
This crash remains under investigation.
