National Weather Service out of Wilmington has stated that even into Central Ohio there could be severe storms and isolated tornadoes this evening!
My take on this: Spinning LOW is near Louisville Kentucky. Best rotating air is there.
LIFTED INDEX is -2 from Cincinnati to Louisville to Lexington and CAPES are 500.
Very modest values for even thunder – but there is a SVR TSTM WATCH there.
I think the rotation of the LOW itself could bring severe weather and tornadoes mainly to the area in between those three cities this afternoon.
Columbus has minimal CAPES and LIs are +1.
Columbus CAPES go to 400 this evening and LI to -1.
Radar is trying to form a band of showers like you would see around a hurricane from Cincinnati to Portsmouth and south 5 miles wide. This line will continue to develop and rotate to the NW.
Upper band will reach near I-70 by the end of daylight and is the only one we have to pay attention to.
So I am advising we pay attention, especially I-70 corridor and south, from 5 to 8 p.m. only. After that, the low will be under us to the SE and we lose heating and LIs jump to +7 by midnight.
Showery this weekend and about 50.
