Firefighters continue to pour water and foam on the remains of a fire that engulfed a house at 2597 Karok Drive this afternoon in the Choctaw Lake community in Madison County.
CHOCTAW LAKE, Ohio -- The American Red Cross is helping a Madison County family whose home was destroyed by an fire Saturday afternoon.
The fire was reported at 2597 Karock Drive north of London at a two-story modular home. Firefighters say flames were coming from the building when they arrived.
Water and foam was sprayed on the building, beginning shortly after 1 p.m.
Madison County Deputy Tim McKinney passed by the house on his rounds 30 minutes before the fire was reported, according to what he told the Madison-Press.
“Everything was fine when I swung through here about a half-hour ago,” McKinney said. “When I heard the dispatch and came back, there was black smoke and flames coming from the home.”
The cause of the fire has not been determined, but fighting it was made difficult because all water had to be hauled, and the home was made of combustible materials, according to fire officials.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Units from the London Fire Department, Central Townships Joint Fire District, Range Township Fire Department, Pleasant Valley Fire Department, Jefferson Township Fire Department, Harmony Township Fire Department, Mechanicsburg Fire Department, Madison County EMD, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
