COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Two additional charges are filed against a local man accused of striking children in the head with a key protruding from his fist.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Two additional assault charges were filed against Ralph Conone, 68, of Columbus Sunday, according to CPD. He already was charged with two counts of assault.
Conone is accused of waiting until parents aren't watching, moving in and striking children in the head with a key protruding from his fist.
He was arrested last Wednesday night after two alleged assaults in a Bethel Road Walmart.
Police say another family reported their 2-year-old child was struck twice at the same Walmart location Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.
The alleged incident involved two approaches on the same child, according to CPD. That incident also was captured on surveillance video.
Conone was arraigned on the two assault charges last Friday and was given a $150,000 cash-surety bond in a Franklin County Municipal courtroom.
As of Sunday night, Conone had not posted bond and remained in the county's custody.
Apparently, Conone has been committing the assaults in local stores since at least January 2010, according to a police report.
Police asked possible victims to come forward.
CPD Sgt. John Hurst told NBC 4 Conone apparently does it for the thrill.
During his arraignment, Conone claimed he is bipolar and is taking medication for his condition.
If Conone were to post bond, he was ordered to stay away from all Walmart stores and all of his alleged victims. He also would be subject to house arrest.
Authorities and the media are not showing Conone's face as part of the ongoing investigation.
