CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio The superintendent of Circleville City Schools wants the three teens suspected of shooting a BB gun at a passing school bus to face the most serious charges possible.
The teens range in age between 13 and 15 are accused of shooting at a bus carrying 24 elementary school students on Thursday at the intersection of Main Street and Eva Drive in Circleville.
The BB shattered a window, sending glass flying. One student suffered a cut to her nose.
Neighbors helped police identify the three teens they believe are responsible.
"Any time you do anything to a student or a school bus it's a serious event," said Kirk McMahon, superintendent of Circleville City Schools. "I would recommend charges, and as for my disappointment, yes, I would be disappointed if there were no charges filed."
A nearby auto sales business owner noticed BBs hit four of his vehicles as well.
The Pickaway County Prosecutor's office is deciding whether to charge the three juveniles with vandalism or the less serious offense of criminal damaging. A decision is expected later this week.
McMahon said the school district plans to punish the teens if it learns they are district students. Police have yet to release their names.
