COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Two Grove City men are killed in a one-vehicle crash on the city's Southwest Side Tuesday morning.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS from the Franklin County sheriff's office.
The Franklin County sheriff's office was called to the intersection of state Route 104 (Jackson Pike) and Dyer Road at about 8:45 a.m.
One vehicle, a pickup truck, was involved and the vehicle came to rest about 100 yards off Dyer Road.
Two people were killed in the crash, according to the Franklin County sheriff's office.
A 1993 Ford pickup truck apparently was traveling eastbound on Dyer Road.
Authorities said they believe the pickup ran the stop sign at the intersection of S.R. 104 and Dyer Road, continued eastbound off the roadway, went through a fence and hit an embankment at a high speed.
Authorities said the crash likely occurred during the overnight hours.
Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was identified as 30-year-old Jesse D. Meinke of Grove City.
The passenger was identified as 32-year-old Robert M. Stange of Grove City.
The wreckage was located on Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) property.
Apparently, a refuse collector was driving by and saw the wreckage at about 8 a.m.
The victims were extricated from the vehicle and were transported to the county coroner's office.
Roadways were not closed during the investigation because the wreckage was off the road.
Alcohol and/or drugs were being investigated as a factor in the crash.
The crash remained under investigation.
Neither victim was wearing a seatbelt, authorities said.
Additional information was not available immediately.
