COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Arson detectives are investigating a suspicious fire that happened Monday night on Columbus’ Northwest side.
Columbus Division of Fire Arson Detectives were called to a garage fire on Westwood Avenue Monday night after firefighters suspected the fire wasn’t an accident.
Battalion Chief Jim Flin tells NBC 4 Photojournalist Mark Van Horn that the cars in the burned garage had also been keyed with the words “AOL kills.”
There were other cars in the immediate area with the same marks, according to the chief.
The multi-car garage was a complete loss, with damages estimated at $35,000.
Officials speculate that a fire one block away that happened at noon Monday might have also been the work of an arsonist and might be connected.
One man has been taken into custody regarding this incident.
