Outpouring For Fallen Police Officer

»  Comments | Post a Comment

ELYRIA, Ohio -- Mourners have left flowers, balloons, candles and stuffed animals outside an Ohio police department that lost an officer in the line of duty.

Forty-three-year-old Patrolman James Kerstetter was gunned down Monday night when he went to a home in Elyria following up on a 911 call. Authorities in the community west of Cleveland say gunman Ronald Palmer was shot and killed by backup officers.

Kerstetter had gone to the home on a report from a woman that a neighbor had exposed himself to her child and kicked in a window.

Funeral home calling hours for Kerstetter have been scheduled for Thursday and Friday, with the funeral service tentatively planned for Saturday at the Ewing Field House on the campus of Lorain County Community College.
