COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Friends took a Columbus teen with a gunshot wound to a West Side hospital early Sunday morning and then took off.
Police say the friends later returned and told police what happened.
According to their account, the vehicle the three friends were in was being chased through a residential neighborhood by a second vehicle.
The police report indicates the occupants from the second vehicle were firing shots from a high-power rifle from their vehicle into the vehicle the victim and his friends occupied.
One of the shots hit the victim in the back.
Patrol officers who went to the scene described found numerous shell casings that were recovered as evidence.
The victim was rushed into surgery, and doctors told police he will survive.
