Program Helps Farmers Fight World Hunger

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

The Ohio Soybean Council is encouraging Ohio farmers to join a relatively World Soy Foundation program to donate the equivalent market value of one acre of soybeans in the battle against malnutrition.

One acre of soybeans, when converted into soybean oil and flour, can provide enough protein to meet the full caloric needs for 80 people for a full month. Similarly, one acre of soybeans, an excellent source of protein that is low in transfats, can be used to make more than 40,000 eight-ounce servings of soymilk.

You don't have to be a farmer to donate, and you can obtain more information about the program at www.worldsoyfoundation.org and learn about the program. More than 950 million people worldwide are undernourished, and untold millions of children suffer from growth and learning deficiencies resulting from inadequate nutrition.
