Authorities say the driver of a sport-utility vehicle rear-ended a buggy in northeast Ohio, injuring an Amish woman who was eight months pregnant, her husband and their six children.
A nursing supervisor at a Cleveland hospital says 31-year-old Barbara Kauffman of Parkman gave birth to a boy Thursday and was in critical condition.
State Highway Patrol Trooper C.J. Coyne-Hall says Kauffman's husband was driving the buggy and has non-life-threatening injuries. Two of their children were in stable condition Thursday at a children's hospital. Four were treated and released. The children range in age from 1 to 9.
The highway patrol says the driver of the Jeep Cherokee and her 11-month-old child were treated at a hospital and released. Coyne-Hall says charges are pending.
The horse was injured seriously, according to OSP. The horse's owners were waiting to learn the extent of the injuries from the vet. The animals may have to be euthanized.
