Ohio Opens 2 Lakes In Time For Holiday Weekend

»  Comments | Post a Comment

State officials say two lakes in southeastern Ohio are opening in time for the Labor Day weekend.

Officials say it's safe for boaters, swimmers and fishermen to head to Lake Hope and Jackson Lake, after two weeks of toxin-free testing cleared both lakes from the algae-bloom advisory list.

Ohio officials also have downgraded a toxin advisory at Deer Creek State Park lake, but people there should avoid contact with any algae.

The state says the rest of the algae advisories remain unchanged.

A spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources says she's hoping cooler temperatures this month will take all of the state lakes off the advisory list.
