Private colleges have launched a new website to help students in a dozen states find private loans for school.
The president of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio says the site, called The Marketplace, helps students navigate the daunting task of finding a bank or credit union loan to fill the gap between government grants or scholarships and the cost of attending college.
The president, C. Todd Jones, says the web tool saves lenders overhead costs, so they're able to eliminate many of the fees and markups that can surprise student borrowers.
