For restaurants, it’s all about keeping up with the trends. Organic this. Grass fed that. Sustainable.
These are the buzz words you’ll find attached to many new restaurants.
But how about this buzz word? Darkness. Complete and utter darkness.
You've heard of dinner by candlelight. How about dinner by no light? Opaque, in San Francisco, Calif., is one of the only restaurants where you've got to check the menu before you're seated because once you're inside the restaurant itself, you can't see a thing.
The concept is called "dark dining."
"You take away one sense, and your remaining senses are heightened to a new level," says Opaque's manager.
And diners agree. Dining in the dark allows them to better taste each element of the dish.
So will dining in the dark become the new restaurant trend? The answer will soon come to light.
