A couple, apparently unable to deal with medical issues, commits suicide in Johnstown Friday afternoon.
The shooting occurred shortly after 1 p.m. at 90 East Maple Street in Johnstown.
According to the Johnstown police chief, Wallace and Clover Walls were found dead in the home.
Officials said Clover had a lot of medical issues and was released from a nursing home Tuesday, but that the couple couldn't cope.
The police chief said Wallace shot his wife, Clover, and then shot himself.
Police said the couple left a suicide note.
Family of the victims told NBC4 that the couple had been married for 53 years and that they consider the shooting an act of mercy.
Schools in the area were locked down as a precaution shortly after 2 p.m. The lockdowns were lifted at about 2:30 p.m., according to Johnstown-Monroe Local School District.
