EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Running back Javon Ringer has been selected as the most valuable player of Michigan State's football team.
The first team Associated Press All-America was to be honored at the Spartans' football banquet Thursday night.
Ringer is third in the nation in rushing at 132.5 yards per game. He helped the Spartans to a 9-3 regular season record and an upcoming appearance in the Capital One Bowl against Georgia on New Year's Day.
The MVP award is called the Governor's Award.
Several other Spartans received honors including offensive linemen Roland Martin and Joel Nitchman, defensive back Otis Wiley, linebacker Greg Jones, quarterback Brian Hoyer and receiver Blair White.
