DAYTON, Ohio - Cory Cooperwood scored 15 points to lead Wright State to its fifth straight victory Tuesday with a 71-62 win over Cleveland State at the Nutter Center.
Wright State (7-7, 1-2 Horizon League) jumped out to an early lead and went up by 13 points after a 12-1 scoring run at the 6:35 mark of the first half, putting the score at 19-6. The Raiders never trailed in the contest.
The win was a team effort, with Todd Brown adding 13 points and nine rebounds and John David Gardner contributing 12 points. Wright State shot a season-best 54 percent.
J'Nathan Bullock was the game's top scorer with 23 points and nine rebounds for Cleveland State (10-5, 1-2).
Cleveland State cut the deficit to four twice early in the second half, but Wright State surged up 13 to 56-43 following a Will Graham 3-pointer with 5:51 left.
The Vikings were just four of 27 from 3-point range.
