WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- David Dellucci and Jason Michaels have more in common than playing left field for the Cleveland Indians.
Both are aggressive players willing to do whatever they can to stay in the lineup. Neither likes sharing his job, and both deal with the part-time status by attacking each opportunity straight on.
Manager Eric Wedge believes their combined tenacity will make the second year of the platoon plan a success.
Dellucci has been sidelined the past three days with a strained left forearm. And he definitely doesn't want a repeat of his 2007 season, when he needed surgery on his hamstring.
Both players see the Indians grooming possible replacements in right-hand hitter Ben Francisco and lefty Shin-Soo Choo.
Dellucci says he doesn't want to take anything for granted.
