COLUMBUS, Ohio -- More than 95,722 fans took in their first view of the 2009 Buckeyes Saturday. OSU says it's the largest spring game crowd in national history.
The fans saw some stars arise for the first time while other players showed a newly polished game, namely QB Terrelle Pryor.
The sophomore-to-be looked more comfortable passing from the pocket, throwing two touchdowns in the final minute of the first half for the gray squad. His team earned a 23-3 victory over the scarlet team.
Other standouts included running backs Brandon Saine and Marcus Williams. Receiver Taurian Wasington caught a 44-yard touchdown from Pryor and showed the most consistent connection with the quarterback.
Ray Small made several nifty moves on a 22-yard touchdown catch from Pryor.
"It's a reminder of just how much interest there is in Ohio State football" Head Coach Jim Tressel said, saluting the crowd. "The 15 days of spring ball -- most of them were very good ... We need a tremendous preseason."
On Pryor's performance, "I thought he did a great job throwing the ball despite the wind. You'll see that through the season, and he did a nice job." Tressel said.
The Bucks open the 2009 season September 5th against Navy.
