Former Buckeye Apologizes After Marijuana Charge

»  Comments | Post a Comment

LIMA, Ohio -- A former Ohio State University basketball player recently arrested for marijuana says he's sorry for making a mistake.

In a letter to The Lima News, Jamar Butler writes that he's "not a good kid gone bad."

He grew up in Lima and was a starter on the Buckeyes squad that lost to Florida in the 2007 NCAA championship game.

Lorain Municipal Court records show Butler pleaded no contest last month to possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a police officer found three bags of marijuana inside Butler's parked car.

The apology letter was delivered to the newspaper by Butler's father on Sunday. Butler wrote that he's never been in trouble before and will learn from his mistake.

He's now playing professional basketball in Turkey.
