Zook Says Juice Williams Won't Line Up A Receiver Or Running Back

»  Comments | Post a Comment

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- With Juice Williams starting at quarterback, Illinois coach Ron Zook has frequently lined up athletic backup QB Eddie McGee at receiver.

This week, McGee is getting his first start at quarterback, but Williams isn't expected to spend time at wideout or in the backfield.

Zook says Williams hasn't played those positions and would likely struggle with the finer points.

The coach is benching Williams this week in favor of McGee. Illinois has sputtered to a 1-and-3 start this season and Williams has struggled.

Zook, though, says Williams will be ready if McGee needs to be relieved.

The coach says there isn't any tension between the two. He says they've worked closely this week getting ready for Michigan State.
