COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Goalie Cal Heeter stopped 39 shots Friday to help Ohio State beat Denver 4-0 for the Buckeyes' first win of the men's hockey season.
Heeter turned away all 16 shots he faced in the third period.
Taylor Stefishen and Zac Dalpe gave the Buckeyes (1-3-0) a 2-0 lead after one period.
Shane Sims scored midway though the second and C.J. Severyn netted Ohio State's final goal late in the third period to close out the scoring. Severyn also had an assist.
Adam Murray made 22 stops for Denver (2-2-0), which won the opener of the two-game series 2-0 Thursday.
The Pioneers were 0-for-5 on the power play.
