Dantonio: Don't Read Too Much Into Spartans' Loss

»  Comments | Post a Comment

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Mark Dantonio knows that his Michigan State Spartans will need to play better this Saturday to win at Notre Dame in a matchup of disappointed 1-1 teams. He also knows that they can.

A 29-27 loss to Central Michigan left questions for Michigan State about the lack of a rushing attack, a weakness in the secondary and a lack of poise.

Dantonio cautioned the media Tuesday not to read too much into one game. He also said the Spartans' six straight wins in South Bend, Ind., a Notre Dame opponent-record, won't count after this year's kickoff.

Kirk Cousins, who started the last two games at quarterback and played three quarters against the Chippewas, is expected to keep that job.

But the depth chart still lists an "OR" with fellow sophomore Keith Nichol.
