Cleveland Cavs Likely To Restore Water Fountains

»  Comments | Post a Comment

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking at reinstalling their arena's drinking fountains, which Ohio officials say were removed in violation of the state building code.

Cavaliers spokesman Tad Carper tells The Plain Dealer newspaper in an e-mail that it's likely fountains will be put back at Quicken Loans Arena by the end of February. He says it's a step the team has been considering because flu season appears to have peaked.

The Cavaliers had said water fountains were removed in November to prevent the spread of swine flu and other viruses. The team said it was not trying to force fans to buy bottled water.

The Ohio Department of Commerce says the arena must have water fountains under the building code's requirement of one fountain for every 1,000 occupants.
