After he ran wild Sunday at Ohio Stadium, Westerville South Head Coach Rocky Pentello said of RB Jayshon Jackson "we told him he needed to get in better shape." Jackson proved he was capable of carrying the load for South in a major upset win over Dublin Coffman, 31-21. Coffman had been ranked #1 in our JJhuddle.com Power Poll.
Jackson earned Football Friday Night Player of the Week honors for Week #2 after carrying 42 times for 318 yards with 2 touchdowns against Coffman. Jackson rolled up nearly 200 yards by halftime behind a stout offensive line. The game also provided a nice national spotlight for Jackson, as viewers watched across the nation on ESPNU.
Jackson's a powerful 187 pounds packed onto a 5'7'' frame with some breakaway speed. Many MAC schools, along with Cincinnati, West Virginia and Purdue are showing interest in Jackson.
